While many UFO enthusiasts and UFOlogist concentrate on the Area 51 installation, there is some debate on whether or not it is still a viable installation. It is believed by some that the Area 51 base has been abandoned. They contend that the base has become too well known to be the place where our government tests its deepest secrets. It is a valid point, in my opinion. Why not simply move the entire operation and leave a security force to maintain security and maintain the mystique. They could be using the fame of area 51 to divert attention from the new installation. There are several things which could debunk this theory. One, why would the USAF spend millions of dollars on a security system more elaborate than the White House's or the Pentagon's. (I've been to the Pentagon and the security is beyond impressive.) Area 51 has remote motion sensor tracking system blanketing several thousand cubic miles. Ground vibration sensors that can record the slightest footstep. Infared cameras, night vision cameras, heat sensing cameras, high definition video monitors, and a private security force with automatic weapons, all terrain vehicals, and a variety of other gadgets to numerous to mention. It is rumored that they use a device that can distinguish between the scents of a human and common desert animals. They can see, hear, feel, and smell you coming a mile away (probably MUCH further that that). Anyone who thinks that they can take a four wheel drive and make it in they should really read the sign at the border of Area 51. At the very bottom, in red letters it reads: USE OF DEADLY FORCE HAS BEEN AUTHORIZED. This, of course refers to keeping people out.
