Sadness

It fills my heart with sadness the amount of hate that is spewed forth from people.  I try to live my life as a good person, yes who occasionally gets annoyed with others.  I can get really angry with some peoples' thoughts/ideas/actions, but never would I resort to belittling them in anyway.  Never would I start name calling, cos to me, that's a cop out.  My own hubby will resort to name calling when in an arguement with me, but I won't be dragged into it.

So many people do it, rather than argue the point, they attack the person.  That's not an arguement, that's just disrespectful.  I've noticed a lot of young people doing this, and I am wondering why?  Do unto others that they unto you.  Is that the saying? Something like that anyway, and that's how I live my life.

Treat others the way you want to be treated.  For me, that is with respect.  If you disagree with my opinion, well okay, I will still try to get my point across, but I will also listen.

I guess with age comes maturity, but I wouldn't do it vey often when I was younger, I just wasn't allowed to anyway.  Now I'm not saying I'm a saint and have never done it, of course I have.  But the feelings of absolute guilt and shame afterwards have taught me not to say these things.  The times I do it, I always apologise immediately.  Maybe cos I can see pain on their faces.  Perhaps that is why over the net, people feel that they can insult others, they don't see the pain they cause?

Well this is just how I'm feeling at the moment.  Happy 4th to those who celebrate!

Date: 7/4/2008 2:40:00 AM  From Authorid: 21867    ...I think people might be a bit more inclined to insult online not so much due to not seeing the pain they cause - but rather more so due to the pain they will not receive...given that the greater majority of the keyboard warriors out there wouldn't say *boo* to anyone in real life lest they get they head smacked in...
Date: 7/4/2008 5:39:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 26303    Thanks Shawn. Yeah, I agree with you Agent, they probably don't say much in real life. I didn't think of that.
Date: 7/4/2008 7:17:00 AM  From Authorid: 63725    I agree that we need to be respectful of others. Also I have a bad habit of calling myself names like "idiot" etc. My hubby gets so upset when I do that because he does not like to hear people putting themself down. Years ago I called someone a bad name and it still hurts me now to think I ever did that.
Date: 7/4/2008 10:47:00 AM  From Authorid: 63026    My friend just told me this morning "sometimes we just got to bite our tounge, and that it's better to be silent, than say what we want to say". If it isn't going to fix the situation, than why make it worse with those hurtful words.
Date: 7/4/2008 10:49:00 AM  From Authorid: 14909    Hey I'm like you in your way of thinking.
