The wide doors slid open to reveal another room that looked like a mine. There was a young-looking woman standing near the opposite wall. She had cyan eyes, white-gray hair, and a pale complexion. Her face made her look kind and wise beyond her years. When her eye's met Anna's. she grinned with tears running down her face.
"I told her nothing," said the man. He courtsied (sp?) and left, with Anna still there.
"What's going on?" asked Anna, taking a step forward.
"Well, nothing anymore. It's all better now. No need to worry," the woman said in a voice filled with both joy and sorrow.
"What do you mean?"
"You're home. you're home. You're home. You're home! You're HOME! Do you know who I am?" she asked excitedly.
"No..." Anna longed to know what was going on.
"Oh. Oh, my. Did you're gaurdians not tell you?" She looked down. "Or... or maybe.. they could not read they way we can. Can you read?" she asked.
"Of course," answered Anna thinking this a strange question.
"Well, when we gave you to your gaurdians as a baby--almost newborn-- We- I left a note for them so they'd know the truth. I thought it horrible for them to not know. They were supposed to tell you about it when you reached an age at which you could understand." She walked over to a small stand with a small pale blue-purple ball on it. "Here, this is our whole history, but one section is just yours alone. This is one of the only things that has records of what happened to you." She handed the ball to Anna. "Go on, read it," she insisted.
Anna looked at the ball. She looked for any markings or symbols, anything she could read, but found nothing.
"Do you see?" asked the woman.
"No." Anna answered.
"That's what I was afraid of. You see, we have a special way of reading and writing here. We don't know how to read or write any other way. I had heard rumors that where you grew up, they make some type of physical markings to read."
"Why does everyone keep referencing where I gre up?" Anna asked.
"Because you grew up on Earth, dear."
"We're not on Earth?!" anna couldn't believe it.
"Of course not. Where'd ypu think we are?"
"In an underground building.."
"Oh, we are underground, but what's a building?" asked the woman, intrigued.
"Nevermind. Where are we?" wondered Anna.
"We're in Moon. Cabul Hall to be more specific," anounced the woman.
"We're on the moon?"
"IN the moon, dear."
"Oh," Anna looked down.
"Anyway, the note we left you as a baby, it looked like the one you are holding, only much smaller, for it was a much shorter note. I wonder what happened to it."
Anna looked at her necklace. She had always worn it. Then, she looked more closely at her jewel. It looked like the same material as the ball. As she was thinking maybe this jewel was the key to her true history, she remembered that the woman was still there. "Who are you?" she asked.
"I'm.. I'm your mother." Her eyes filled with tears again. Anna didn't know what to think now. So many strange things were happening right now, that this just only seemed to make it all make less sense. She didn't know what to say in return.
"My name is Cadtherin, if that's what you were really wanting to know. I'll have Mairi show you to your room. Mairi!" said Cadtherin. Just then, a plump maid with dark hair ran in the room from a door that Anna had not noticed before. "Mairi, would you please show Luna her room?" Mairi looked at anna and smiled, also with tears in her eyes.
"Certainly madam. I'd be honored."
