Team America: World Police

In "Team America: World Police," Trey Parker and Matt Stone skewer the left and right political machines, by creating an over-the-top look at a bunch of crime-fighting cronies, featuring puppers no less. In the plot, the Team is assigned to stop Kim-Jong Il, who wants to destroy the world with WMDs. While military destruction is satirized (to stop a terrorist with a bomb in Cairo, the team blows him - and practically everything else - up), liberal actors get made fun of too. The list includes Alec Baldwin, Matt Damon, and Susan Sarandon, (they're part of the Film Actors Guild...which is abbreviated for laughs in the film), and they join with Kim Jong-Il to stop Team America. There's a whole lot of tongue-in-cheekness, and the marionettes serve as a reminder how wooden this world is. It is a great film to see, as it is political, entertaining, funny, and leaves nothing to the imagination.

This film has violence and sex too, which is even more hilarious when it has puppets. In a way, this skewers the MPAA, who, if not for cutting down some of the hardcore sex scene, would have rated the movie NC-17.

Date: 10/16/2004 8:04:00 AM  From Authorid: 46035    I have yet to see the movie. I have seen previews though. I hear there is a big hoopla going on in the news about the movie that it offends some people. Or least that is what I heard on Good Morning America the other day. I may be dating myself.(LOL) But this Movie reminds me of a TV show in the 70's called the Thunderbirds. Which I never missed a show. Thank-you for the review. I will have to check it out at the Movies. Take care. Deborah AKA Chinablue
