The Voting Issue!

  Author:  62065  Category:(Discussion) Created:(9/27/2004 11:32:00 PM)
This post has been Viewed (474 times)

To start things off, I just got done watching MTV's "Choose or Loose", and it inspired me to do my own investigating on why (the younger generation especially) People choose either to or not to vote. I'm just curious about what everybodies oppinion on voting is...so, I was wondering if everyone would give me a stand point on this issue...if you are gonna vote, and why? And, If you're not gonna vote, and why.

I personally am going to vote, but I'm not really sure for what...See politics confuse and anger me. It angers me because it confuses me. does anybody else feel this way?

The only stipulation to replying to this post is, is that I don't want you to read the other replys before you post a reply...I don't want a huge debate, just an answer to the question...please!!! =)

Thanx DarkAngel~1

Date: 9/27/2004 11:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 36352    Personally I think that it's the ??? Of voting that keep many from voting. Like I really want to vote this year, but at 30 years old I have never voted and am afraid of getting in there and not being able to figure it all out. I know who I want for president and governor (or rather who I don't want) but out side of that I have'nt a clue. They should have voting for dummies or something. Or do they and I missed that.

I just turned 22yr old a couple of weeks ago and it will be the first time i am old enough to vote. I know im regestered but i don't know where to go or what. I feel your pain...I know what my opinions are, but how to get them out there is another question. I as you am what I like to call voter impaired..lol. =) thanx for your post, maybe someone can help us (lol). *peace and love*
Date: 9/28/2004 12:16:00 AM  From Authorid: 62226    I have voted in every election I was of age to and will continue to. as for this next election I think the presidential race is soured by the lack of a reasonable canidate so I am focusing on local ballot issues.
Date: 9/28/2004 12:28:00 AM  From Authorid: 36352    You have to be 18 here to vote.
Date: 9/28/2004 8:02:00 AM  From Authorid: 25390    I am going to vote because it is my right and my priveledge to do so. :D
Date: 9/28/2004 9:07:00 AM  From Authorid: 34487    Well, I never read the other replies before commenting so...you'll get my real opinion here. As for politics, yes... they can be confusing. The only way to get a truly objective opinion and become informed, is to watch a VARIETY of news programs. Yes, they can be boring but in order to vote for what you feel is right for our country, it's necessary. When I line up Bush's policies against Kerry's (even though they change every day), it's obvious to me that Bush is the better choice. I will be voting this year as I feel it is VERY important that our country has a strong and STABLE leader at this crucial time.
Date: 9/28/2004 9:43:00 AM  From Authorid: 29532    Good luck on not starting a debate here lol. But I am voting, I need to keep the key elements in my life such as tax credits to help us survive. Therefore, I am voting 100% Kerry.
Date: 9/28/2004 10:10:00 AM  From Authorid: 34487    Pyrifera...I'm not sure what you're referring to with Kerry and taxes credits. BUSH is the one that just raised the marriage and child tax credit, in case you didn't know.
Date: 9/28/2004 10:47:00 AM  From Authorid: 4144    well, usually i don't read the replies before i post but since you said not to!!.........i haven't voted in years. i'm also not young! (40) but everytime i see kerry on tv and he opens his mouth it makes me want to go vote for Bush! there's just something about that man that gets on my last nerve. like finger nails on a chalk board. i just can't make myself believe a word that comes out of his mouth.
Date: 9/28/2004 1:03:00 PM  From Authorid: 34487    I know exactly what you mean Moma Bug.
Date: 9/28/2004 7:21:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 62065    Simplexity, I completely understand what you mean...I'm really not liking my choices here. AngelBelle, I know you need to be 18...lol...i should have specified young ppl (18-mid 20s). I agree with you also Oddsmell, I will be voting also, just not sure for who. YouChoose, you have a lot of good points, what really got me was that politicians don't focus on they younger generation be cause they're not interested. My thought was that if they want to secure the future, they should try to get the attention of the younger vote, instead of just doing the same old thing. Pyrifera, thank you for your oppinion. I can't think of anything to reply to you with because I don't really know what your reffering to, I'm sorry. Moma Bug, I know exactly what you mean, I don't know if we should really put our trust into Kerry, but I'm not real happy with Bush either, ya know? Anywho off the subject...thanx for all your replies, And if you are a non-voter don't be afraid to put your replies here, I want your oppinion too! I don't want debate, just thoughts! *peace and love*
