RUST NEVER SLEEPS I live at the beach where the salt air tends to rust anything made of metal. The technician at my bike shop told me to spray furniture polish on the gears, spokes and other parts of my bike to protect and prevent them from rusting. -- Shelly W.
WATER CURE I found a cheap way to cure my leg cramps, a problem that was so perplexing even my doctor couldn't figure out how to help me. A friend suggested I should give up my diet sodas and drink more water instead. I changed my diet and it worked. I passed this tip on to a friend who was plagued with the same problem, especially at night. Maybe this tip of drinking lots of water will help someone else. It sure can't hurt. -- Zell N.
CASSEROLE CLEANUP To make quick work of cleaning a nasty baked-on casserole dish, fill it with hot water and add a fabric softener sheet to the water. Let it soak for a while. The gunk will just slide out. You can even get extra mileage from a sheet that has already gone through the dryer cycle. -- Vicki H.
MANY MINI DRAWERS I bought a small cabinet from the hardware store designed to hold screws and other small items that has 80 plastic drawers. I decoupaged the sides and back with cutouts of wallpaper left over from my bedroom. The shelves are great for storing earrings and jewelry because I can see what's in each drawer. --Thera S.
ODOR EATER Here's how to get the odor out of just about anything, including stinky coolers, glass jars and musty drawers. Dampen a paper towel and set it into a small container. Pour two teaspoons of cheap vanilla extract on it. Put the whole thing inside the smelly container and close it. Wait for three days. This really works great, even inside old refrigerators. -- Marty V.
CABBAGE ROLL TRICK For a quick way to make cabbage rolls, without having to boil the leaves first and enduring that horrible smell, freeze the cabbage. Just put the whole head into a plastic bag and put it in the freezer. Take it out 2 to 3 hours before you want to prepare the cabbage rolls to let it thaw. The leaves will be limp and pliable so you can make the rolls without having to boil them first. Just fill and bake as usual. No mess, no boiled cabbage odors. -- Marilyn S.
