bush really a straight shooter..hahahaha

Wow, I thought Bush was about not playing to what people want? He seems to act like he isn't into caring about portraying a fake image. He's the straight shooter who likes things the way they are. At least thats what I thought before I read about the pre-debate negotiations.

Bush wanted the platform set, so Kerry doesn't look taller than him! I thought Bush was all about not worrying about adjusting his true self to fit the whims of people? Guess it's another example of his schizophrenia. He acts and says one thing, but does another.

It just amuses me. Bush tries so hard to act like he's not into caring about political games. He tries so hard for the straight shooter image. And here he is adjusting the podium, so he doesnt look short! Sounds like the move of a savy politician, not the moves of a straight shootin, take me as I am, kinda guy. Guess Bush is a savy, image minded, panderer like the rest.

It's just more GWB, false image making. The scary part is that so many can't see through it! He puts up the image that he's not a savy politician, but then he goes and does things like this. He tries to act tough on terror, then sends more people to chase Saddam than Osama. He tries to play mr. resolute non-flip flopper, then goes on to change his reasons for the Iraqi war, and changes his views on many things. He's such a good smoke screen builder. Yet, people don't see through it? Why? Is he really that slick? Or are people just in that much denial?

Here's how to read the true Bush. Take whatever image he's trying to portray. Then just picture it's opposite. Chances are that's the real GWB. Atleast Kerry doesn't put up some false front. We see who he is. He's a politician. But Bush, that sneaky lil weasel, he tries to say he's not! Nope, he's just Mr. straight shooter, up there on his, personally altered podium, letting us see how he really stands on stuff. Cuz ole GWB just doesn't care about political games,as he stands up there on his altered podium.

Date: 9/27/2004 11:07:00 PM  From Authorid: 36352    Yeah I agree Bush is full of it. He's not the most popular guy in my book and I would'nt vote for him if I had a gun to either side of my head and a bomb strapped to my back. But I have to say that all politions, no matter how good they are do one thing and say another. It may not be right, but thats the system we have. They all say what they think they have to to get in the house, so personally I don't feel I can judge them on that. It's what they do once they get there that matters to me and Bush just has'nt impressed me in the least, so I say give some one else a chance. As for the podium thing I think that has to do with confidence. Love and smiles :o)
Date: 9/27/2004 11:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 49689    "He acts and says one thing, but does another." nah that the old double standard..It's the american way ..say one thing,do something else...
Date: 9/28/2004 12:21:00 AM  From Authorid: 62226    hahahah
Date: 9/28/2004 3:13:00 AM  From Authorid: 30229    Bush hides behind the "image" he wants America and the rest of the world to see, the REAL Bush shall come out someday and that day will be very scary for all of us. Putting this man back in office will be the financial death of a lot of us poorer people... SAD but true. He is dangerous and a MONEY monger.
Date: 9/28/2004 5:59:00 AM  From Authorid: 2030    I'm actually kind of wishing Kerry would get elected so we can all see a rea' (non-fake) idiot in action. In the end it really doesn't matter as those of us who know how to take care of themselves will continue to do so.
Date: 9/28/2004 7:30:00 AM  From Authorid: 12835    Would someone PLEASE tell me how tall both men are so I know how to vote come November..
Date: 9/28/2004 7:51:00 AM  From Authorid: 25390    Vote NADER!!
Date: 9/28/2004 8:13:00 AM  From Authorid: 31673    The campaign manager is the one who pre-approves sets, camera angles, etc. I'm sure Bush's campaign manager is making sure the President is presented in the best light... I would be willing to bet Kerry's campaign manager is checking out the set just as closely. I'm sure he'll want the right lighting, position and camera angles so that Kerry looks his best. Maybe he doesn't need the platform raised, but I'm sure he'll want the camera to shoot Kerry's best side and the lighting to hit his face just right, and he'll be sure that Bush can't be seen in the background of certain camera angles, etc. I find it interesting because I actually attended a lecture a few years back given by the campaign manager for George Bush senior. He talked about the camera positioning and angles during some of the debates. He said one of the biggest mistakes they made was having a particular camera shot in which Clinton could be seen in the background. The problem was that every time they took that shot, Clinton could be seen behind Bush making faces and shaking his head. They said that really hurt public perception of Bush and deminished the validity of what he was saying. I'm sure they are making sure that that doesn't happen again. Perhaps having both men at the same level prevents low-angle camera shots or makes it easier to take a balanced 2 shot. I don't think that says anything about either candidate's politics or leadership ability, does it?
Date: 9/28/2004 9:10:00 AM  From Authorid: 24924    There are way way to many restrictions set up for the debates. The fact that there can be NO direct questions to each other greatly works in BUSH favor. There was even quibbling over the temperature of the room! Oh, no, no one must be seen sweating. *rolls eyes* You know what....I think there should be no holds barred, let em have at it, anything goes debate. Bush would fold in the first few minutes. He simply cannot withstand direct questioning and non scripted confrontation.
Date: 9/28/2004 9:15:00 AM  From Authorid: 2030    Kerry of course doesn't sweat, that's for common folk.
Date: 9/28/2004 9:22:00 AM  From Authorid: 34487    LOL...this is funny. Anyway, you're all bent out of shape about Bush wanting his platform raised??? Oh my, he should be put away for that one! LOL. I mean come on....don't you think little ole' Kerry would have a HARRY if his platform wasn't EQUAL to Bush's? I think Bush is right for having his platform raised. During the debates he should be at EYE-LEVEL with his competitor. It's only common sense. As for your trying to say he's changed his mind on the war with Iraq, I don't see it. He hasn't backed out and he hasn't claimed we shouldn't have gone but Kerry voted for the war initially and then said we shouldn't be there. Of course now, Kerry claims he supports the war again and he plans to send additional troops if elected. I think you've got your candidates views confused. Kerry is a MESS...he's like a walking tornado of ideals. One never knows where his policies and views will fall on any issue on any given day. IF you like someone that plays games with your head and is AFRAID to take a stand on anything...Kerry is your man. Personally, I'll take Bush who has admitted to past misunderstanding or inaccurate information and has STILL kept his same stand on issues. Kerry the CHAMELON...lol, he scares me.
Date: 9/28/2004 9:46:00 AM  From Authorid: 34487    ooops...I meant Kerry the CHAMELEON! ;)
Date: 9/28/2004 10:50:00 AM  From Authorid: 4144    LOL! don't want to look short on tv?! neither would i! i'm short and if i was going on tv to go up aganist some big tall guy with a big mouth that's full of...........anyway, i'd wanna stand on a milk crate too.
Date: 9/28/2004 11:37:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 47162    It's not so much that there is something wrong with wanting to be the same height. The thing that gets me is that Bush tries, so, so, hard to make us think he doesn't care about stuff like this. He's the straight talkin, straight shooter, from Texas who doesn't play political games, and doesn't worry about image! He is who he is. At least thats what he's trying to make us think. That's all this post is about. It's about another example of Bush being the exact opposite of the image he's trying to portray.
Date: 9/28/2004 12:56:00 PM  From Authorid: 28989    I saw Kerry answer tough and direct questions on Meet the Press, and I was impressed by how he never wavered, stuttered or look flustered as he gave strong and direct answers. He explained his apparent "flip-flops" very well, giving the real reason he seemed to change his mind on several issues, including the money for the soldiers in Iraq (that bill was loaded with all kinds of extra stuff--"pork"--that would have hurt veteran's benefits, among other things that he didn't agree with). Before that, Kerry was an unknown element to me. After seeing him on that show, I feel confident about supporting him.
Date: 9/28/2004 1:02:00 PM  From Authorid: 34487    NOPE R1...that's now how I see it. I see Bush as very down to Earth and I see Kerry as the TOTAL opposite. Kerry is the one who was first married to a millionaire and now is married to a multi-billionaire. Yah...I'm sure he really knows what the average American struggles with huh? LOL.
Date: 9/28/2004 1:22:00 PM  From Authorid: 47218    yeah, so he's a politician like everyone else...that would be the least of my complaints about him.
Date: 9/28/2004 1:23:00 PM  From Authorid: 47218    Good one, St. Pete! Personally, I'm choosing the candidate with the least amount of nose hair.
Date: 9/28/2004 1:33:00 PM  From Authorid: 55967    I'd say if anyone believes that Bush really meant for the American people to see him as something other than a politician, that person is very gullible. Of course he is a savvy politician. You have to be to get into the White House. But does that mean he can't be anything else?
Date: 9/28/2004 1:41:00 PM  From Authorid: 31673    I don't understand... What about Bush wanting to stand shoulder to shoulder with his opponent makes him "the exact opposite" of the image he is trying to portray? You're assuming that a raised podium is an image issue, or some kind of political game. Frankly, camera angles have an impact... if the camera is set to shoot Bush at eye level, then in order to shoot John Kerry, the camera has to be tilted up. That causes the audience to look up to John Kerry. It gives John Kerry the appearance of being authoritarian and powerful. If they set the camera at Kerry's eye level, then in order to get shots of Bush, the camera has to be tilted down, which makes the audience look down on Bush. Making him appear small and less authoritarian. If the two men are different heights, that also makes cross shots awkward. If you're shooting a cross 2 with Bush as the main subject, then Kerry's head is cut off. If you shoot a cross 2 with Kerry as the main subject, then Bush's chin is cut off. It looks awkward and makes the debates look like some sort of freak show. So, if you make the candidates stand at the same height, and put the camera at BOTH their eye levels, the view of the audience is straight on, into BOTH men's eyes. And the cross shots get BOTH candidates without cutting off any part of their heads. And, believe it or not, research shows that camera angles can and DO impact how audiences percieve the subject on camera. So, Bush's people are asking to have the two men stand at the same height so that there is no disadvantage in camera angles. I can't figure what about that indicates that Bush is not the man he says he is? Judging Bush based on where he wants to stand during the debates is really rediculous, in my opinion. If the roles were reversed and John Kerry was shorter than Bush, Kerry's people would be doing the EXACT SAME THING. It simply has no bearing on the image, politics, platforms and leadership abilities or styles of either candidate. It's merely about aethetics and about getting a good camera shot. I don't know of ANYONE who WOULDN'T want to look their best when appearing on national television in front of millions of people. So, it's only natural that BOTH Bush and Kerry's people want to ensure they look as good as possible.
Date: 9/29/2004 9:07:00 AM  From Authorid: 16671    Laughing at bcar and st.pete. I can just see kerry playing one potatoe two potatoe in the white house when trying to make a REAL descion.
Date: 9/29/2004 12:38:00 PM  ( Admin-DNL )   I love Gail's comment.
Date: 9/30/2004 8:39:00 PM  From Authorid: 34487    Interesting.... I NEVER SAW Bush standing on any SUPPOSEDLY raised platform. Chalk this story up as propaganda.
Date: 10/1/2004 9:57:00 AM  From Authorid: 12453    Hmmmm, which one has the biggest shoe size??? Ya know what they say about people with big feet ;) Muahaha, personally I am voting for Kerry. War at an emotional pt. of time may have seemed right back then, doesn't mean it has to be right, right now? Lemme know who has the bigger feet :)
Date: 10/17/2004 3:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 54174    Kerry has bigger feet. hehe
