Voting ... Democracy ... Your Rights. -Zelana)i(

Hi everyone, I have a question for you:

How many of you are interested in politics? Like to talk, discuss, debate? How many of you care about the coming election? I have been doing a lot of thinking being this is the first year I am able to vote.

Our government claims to be a democracy, for the people. The people are the voice. But my question is what happens when that voice is ignored? Or not exercised and used?

What happens when you don't like either person running for office? What happened to the trust in our leaders? The nobility? The honor? The responsibility? What happened to honesty? Doing the right thing? What happened to the number one issue- the people?

Not that long ago certain people were not allowed to vote, and these people fought for that right. Those of us old enough to vote have that right, without a struggle, yet still we disregard this right. It's only one vote, right?- wrong. If everyone thought that way where would we be today? Take a good look at who is in office, or better yet who isn't in office. Have we really picked the right leaders? Why is the ordinary man not in office? What makes a great leader, - and person?

These are very important issues. Because sooner or later we will have to face the consequences of our choices. This is the world we are talking about and the years to come afterwards. We have so much power in our hands yet, we are not using it. Please think these issues over, and realize we are all connected in the great scheme of things.

How do you feel about this?

Date: 9/28/2004 9:34:00 AM  From Authorid: 34487    I know I'm voting this year, FOR sure. Voting is very important and it's our only outlet.
