My cat used to love me and like would come to my room to sleep every night and only slept on my lap and nobody else's. But then all of a sudden when i carried her one day she bit me and ran away from me. Now, everytime i come near her she runs away or moves her tail [she's angry]. She scratches me when i hold her too! She refueses to come to my room also. She recently got a big bite from somewhere outside and i'm not sure if this has anything to do with her bahavior. Does anybody know what's wrong with her?

Date: 5/14/2003 7:54:00 PM  From Authorid: 8278    wow, i thought i'd be able to help you on this. i have 4 cats and now 2 kittens that i am trying to find homes for. lol. but i have never had a problem like that. my cat suddenly turned on my DOG. if she is near him, she'll tear him apart. out of the blue, she attacked him and ripped his claw out for no reason. i have to keep them separated now. but they always got along great for a year and 1/2. i wish i knew what the problem was, then maybe i could solve my problem too. sorry i couldn't help you. but i will be checking back to see if anyone can. best of luck to you.
Date: 5/14/2003 8:07:00 PM  From Authorid: 55841    It sounds like she's upset with you about something. Has anything changed around your home or in your life lately? -Lotus Blossom
Date: 5/14/2003 8:28:00 PM  From Authorid: 13897    awwww yes yes when cats are injured, they act like this. bring her to a vet.. she might have an infection. if you think about it, aren't most people more irritable when they're hurting? i know i get a little more cranky.. cats too.
Date: 5/14/2003 8:51:00 PM  From Authorid: 8941    Is she up to date on her rabies shot? I'm just curious since you say she was bitten while outside.
Date: 5/14/2003 8:54:00 PM  From Authorid: 15675    ohh maybe shes allergic to something? Something u wear? Im not sure i dunno...
Date: 5/14/2003 9:06:00 PM  From Authorid: 34487    You may want to have her checked for rabbies. Animals act aggressive, if they get rabbies and it starts out suttle and gets worse. She could be a threat to someone's life if she scratches deep enough to draw blood or bites. Has she had all her vaccines? Are they up to date. Call her vet and report her behavior and tell them about the bite immediately. Good luck.
Date: 5/14/2003 9:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 34487    My first thought was an infection in the bite but a bacterial or viral infection, would most likely make her act ill and lethargic not aggressive. Definitely call the vet.
Date: 5/14/2003 9:10:00 PM  From Authorid: 34487    One more question.... is she spayed? I have good reason for asking.
Date: 5/14/2003 9:13:00 PM  From Authorid: 3538    It sounds like maybe that bite need to be seen by a vet. I hope your cat has a rabies shot up to date.
Date: 5/14/2003 10:13:00 PM  From Authorid: 49976    If she isn't spayed she could be in season and if animals are in season and don't get pregnant they get crazy. My dog does this sometimes she bit my cousin before when she was in season so if she isnt spayed this could be the problem.

Date: 5/14/2003 10:46:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    you probally hurt her when you carried her... give her some time to settle down and get back to her normal self she was probally shaken
Date: 5/14/2003 11:12:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 61472    i just asked my mom and she's spayed and i think she just recently got a rabies shot but im not sure because a couple of times my the vet was booked up
Date: 5/15/2003 5:36:00 AM  From Authorid: 15159    With animals they are usualy afraid of something that has hurt them in the past. For example, a cat that has been attacked by a dog would fear all dogs from then on. The same could apply with humans. If the cat has been in some way attacted by either a man or woman then your cat thinks you are the same... Check that bite mark, make sure its a bite mark... xx
Date: 5/15/2003 9:58:00 AM  From Authorid: 8941    You can call your vets office and ask them if she is current on her rabies vaccination, they will have a record of it.
Date: 5/15/2003 4:16:00 PM  From Authorid: 47218    cats, when they are injured or scared, tend to behave this way. Take her to the vet. She's probably in pain from the bite. You don't want it to get infected.
Date: 5/16/2003 7:15:00 PM  From Authorid: 34487    If she's spayed she wasn't bitten from being in heat. So.... call the vet and tell them her symptoms and about the bite and they'll check her records. Good luck
Date: 5/17/2003 1:10:00 PM  From Authorid: 51118    that is odd! maybe she cant trust ne one b/c she got bit. i think you should take her to the vet to figure out if the bite will heal and get some antibiotics for the bite while ur there too! i hope ur cat and u reunite soon! Hope i helped!
much luv~
