Thats what I said as I walked to math today. I told my friends to pay me $10 each so we could buy 2 six packs of Mikes Hard Lemonade. We had shortened classes today because of some dumb presentation on DWI....they do it every year before prom. I know the drill..dont drink and drive. I wasn't planning on it anyways. We all walked to the assembly where 2 patrol men, a women, and some other guy spoke about DWI. Then they put on a vidoe.....about a 6 year old girl that died. I thought it was sad....but it got even sadder when they said her father was a highway patrol officer and dealt with drunk drivers all the time. And it got even sadder when they said her own mother was driving drunk with her in the car and survived. This poor girl and her father were so close, so loved by one another. I lost it, tears started falling down my face when they showed her grave site. She loved Lion King...and on her grave it said * Carlene 1992-1997* It had a baby cub over her name, sleeping. Just like she was. And then they showed the entire tomb stone...her fathers name next to hers with a slash and no date after it. He wanted to be buried next to his daughter. And there was a Lion on his, crying out in anger and pain. It broke my heart, shattered it. and now you know what? Im NOT drinking on prom night.

XoXo

Shimmerkiss

Date: 5/14/2003 7:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 8278    it is always so sad to see the victims of drunk driving...and it is twice as bad when it is a child. a drink is not worth a life. i am so happy to hear that you decided not to drink. it will make your evening so much more memorable. (hugs)
Date: 5/14/2003 8:07:00 PM  From Authorid: 27046    My junior year I partcipated in a group thing about DWI right before the prom. Every year our high school does the prom promise. The prom promise is a promise not to drink or do drugs on prom night at all, not just drinking and driving. Throughout periods of the day the principal announced over the pa system that another student had died in a car accident and that student had to get out of their class hit the bathroom and change into all black clothes and paint their faces white. Then they couldn't talk for the rest of the day until after the last period. I went 3rd period...boy that was rough!. LOL
Date: 5/14/2003 8:21:00 PM  From Authorid: 53900    You are making a good decision I am not going to get all preachy but tehre are reasons why minors should not drink and I am glad you are going to be respobnsible so you can have a good time and not have to worry about what you might do if you drink to much
Date: 5/14/2003 8:48:00 PM  From Authorid: 53836    well I am really glad you were so moved by the presentation and changed your mind and attitude about drinking. The image of the graves are enough to bring anyone to tears...I just have to wonder if he divorced his wife though...
Date: 5/14/2003 8:50:00 PM  From Authorid: 53836    oh and I never drank a drop during high school and still fondly remember those days as the best of my life...and I mean remember everything!! that's impossible if you're drunk
Date: 5/14/2003 8:52:00 PM  From Authorid: 59418    Wow, that must have been sad! I'm glad you made that desicion!
Date: 5/14/2003 9:10:00 PM  From Authorid: 3538    I am so glad that it affected at least one person, because I always thought those presentations were so important for everyone, especially highschool and middle school kids to see. Althought it was such a tremendous heartbreaking story that was presented, it did show the students the consequences of drinking.
Date: 5/14/2003 9:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 13897    that is terribly sad.. but it doesn't just happen with teenagers on Prom night. it happens even with adults that are legally able to drink.. all i think is that people can drink.. just don't be stupid about it!
Date: 5/14/2003 10:37:00 PM  From Authorid: 49976    Thats so sad :~( poor little girl. They always stage a Fatal car accident here and put a wrecked car in front of the highschools during prom time.

Date: 5/15/2003 12:57:00 AM  From Authorid: 49742    I'm glad you made the decision not to drink!
Date: 5/15/2003 2:31:00 AM  From Authorid: 33925    Im very proud of you for making the decision to stay sober for your Prom..you know..Your memories are going to be clearer, you will have a wonderful time with a clear head and no morning after hangover! its all good!
Date: 5/16/2003 1:22:00 PM  From Authorid: 58427    Good for you! Even though you aren't going to drink it is good that while you were plannig on it you were not going to drive. I'm very glad you picked the best of the 2 decisions. ~*Peaches*~
