Her marriage into high society was an excuse for Lady Bountiful to entertain lavishly. Unfortunately, she was unused to all the rich food and soon found that she was permanently bloated and full of wind. Her embarrassment was complete when during a banquet for a visiting diplomat she let go a corker, So she blamed it on the butler who was standing behind her, ‘Jeeves, stop that!’ To which Jeeves replied, ‘Certainly, madam, which way did it get?’
