Mj-12's Recovery and Disposal of EBE's ~~~~~~ Lady LaDonna

In December 1994 Don Berliner received a roll of 35mm film in a manila envelope, posted in Wisconsin, without a return address. It consisted of photographs of eighteen pages from a Majestic-12 Group special operations manual. The full text of the manual is available in Stanton Freidman's book "Top Secret/Majic", in which he evaluates the authenticity of the document.

The objective of the manual, which is dated April 1954, is quite clear from the title: "Extraterrestrial Entities and Technology, Recovery and Disposal". Under Section 1, which deals with 'Project Purpose and Goals', the importance of the subject is stressed.

"MJ-12 takes the subject of UFOBs, Extraterrestrial Biological Entities very seriously and considers the entire subject to be a matter of the very highest national security. For that reason everything relating to the subject has been assigned the very highest security classification."

The reason for the high level of secrecy and the paucity of information regarding the Majestic-12 Group is perhaps made clear in the next subsection.

"All information relating to MJ-12 has been classified MAJIC EYES ONLY and carries a security level 2 points above that of Top Secret. The reason for this has to do with the consequences that may arise not only from the impact upon the public should the existence of such matters become general knowledge, but also the danger of having such advanced technology as has been recovered by the Air Force fall into the hands of unfriendly foreign powers. No information is released to the public press and the official position is that no special group such as MJ-12 exists."

The US government was understandablywary of having to deal with this strange and inexplicable new phenomenon. It had just won a major war in which breaking the supposedly secure codes of its Pacific enemy played a major role. Security was integral to its success. And now as the Cold War was beginning to heat up, here were unidentified craft probing the skies above the very area where the ultimate weapon that finally caused the Japanese to admit defeat was developed - Los Alamos, New Mexico. It was unclear in 1954 what technology the Soviet Union might use to enforce its will on its enemies.

In summarizing the current situation, the manual makes clear the absolute superiority of the technology of the visitors despite the US military having caused "one of the crashes [as] the result of direct military action". The document strsses the determination of the US government that such technology should not fall into the hands of its enemies.

"It is considered as far as the current situation is concerned, that there are few indications that these objects [UFOs} and their builders pose a direct threat to the security of the United States, despite the uncertainty as to their ultimate motives in coming here. Certainly the technology possessed by these beings far surpasses anything known to modern science, yet their presence here seems to be benign, and they seem to be avoiding contact with our species, at least for the present. Several dead entities have been recovered along witha substantial amount of wreckage and devices from downed craft, all of which are now under study at various locations. No attempt has been made by the extraterrestrial entities either to contact authorities or to recover their dead counterparts of the downed craft, even though one of the crashes was the result of direct military action. The greater threat at this time arises from the acquisition and study of such advanced technology by foreign powers unfriendly to the United States. It is for this reason that the recovery and study of this type of material by the United States has been given such a high priority."

Given the very real threat of the Cold War breaking out into actual conflict should the Soviet Union gain a massive military advantage over the USA, the sacrifice of the lives and freedom of individual citizens seemed a small price to pay in this global saga. Press freedom seemed almost like a social nicety compared with national survival, as is emphasized in the section of the document that deals with security.

" Great care should be taken to preserve the security of any location where Extraterrestrial Technology might be retrievable for scientific study. Extreme measures must be taken to protect and preserve any material or craft from discovery, examination, or removal by civilian agencies or individuals of the general public. It is therefore recommended that atotal press blackout be initiated whenever possible. If this course of action should not prove feasible, the following cover stories are suggested for release to the press. The officer in charge will act quickly to select the cover story that best fits the situation. It should be remembered when selecting a cover story that official policy regarding UFOBs is that they do not exist."

The document goes on to descibe the methods to be used to obscure any hint of alien spacecraft or alien visitors, including official denials, discrediting witnesses and the making of deceptive statements. It seems incredible that a government document actually advocates these practices as a matter of policy. The derision with which many witnesses have been treated in the media and by the public can perhaps be traced to the following subsection.

"If at all possible, witnesses will held incommunicado until the extent of their knowledge and involvement can be determined. Witnesses will be discouraged from talking about what they have seen, and intimidation may be necessary to ensure their cooperation. If witnesses have already contacted the press, it will be necessary to discredit their stories. This can best be done by the assertion that they have either misinterpreted natural events, are the victims of hysteria or hallucinations, or are the perpetrators of hoaxes."

This paragraph lends credence to the many stories of witnesses being intimidated, and having their lives threatened by over-zealous MJ-12 agents.

Makes one think of all the people made to look like fools simply because they reported seeing something strange in the night skies.
