Theme Ideas

My youth group is going on a trip this summer to a convention-thing. One of our fundraising ideas is a dance. Could you please help? What kind of theme ideas do you have? How much should we charge? Pictures? Please help! We need to hurry and plan this within the next couple weeks. The age groups at the dance will be between 13 & 18. THank you very much!

**Update**What do you think of like, a Sadie Hawkin's theme? Would that be too strange for a church thing, or does it sound cool? Please advise! THank you!

Date: 5/13/2003 3:55:00 PM  From Authorid: 25438    Think of a fun theme...like "Movie Charecters from the 1980's" Make everyone find a charecter in a movie made in the 80s and dress up like them. Then you can hold a contest charge a $1 entry fee and let the winner set at the head table or something.. (more $$$)

Date: 5/13/2003 5:45:00 PM  From Authorid: 53052    pictures i'm assuming you want to use polariods so you need to find if you have a camera and each picture costs a certian amount(the film is pretty pricey you should price that out and figure out how much things are going to cost you guys before you set prices)
Date: 5/13/2003 7:04:00 PM  From Authorid: 19625    Dude, at my middle school last year, we had the most awsome dance. It was a Tropical theme, everyone got a Lei, and they had this Hula group come and dance, they played Tropical Music, and there was tropical punch, it was pretty cool. And for pictures, Find someone with a polaroid camera, and get LOTS of film. It'd be cool to do a neat back ground, with colored butcher paper and stuff, and little dress up things people can wear to go with the theme. As for cost, I'd say $2-3, if you get leis or anything, charge extra (like, $1 or something) for them. Good-Luck! Erin-

Date: 5/15/2003 11:03:00 PM  From Authorid: 52489    I've always enjoyed historical ones: 1920s theme, or 1940s. I went to a 1940s one, and there were lots of soldiers and sailors! We gave prizes for the most authentic. I also go to one every summer that's done on a science-fiction theme: I always go as a Marine from Aliens! A friend of mine went as a Psi-Cop, from Babylon-5. How about that? --Arion1
