Actually rosered is based on the winchester mansion who's owner Sarah Winchester believed that ghost had told her that as long as she built onto the house she would live. http://www.winchestermysteryhouse.com/.. however, supposedly the building where it was filmed was actually haunted.  |

Author 62136,it's based on a true story and last night they showed the story behind the story.If you read Steven Kings book it will say based on a true story this house still exists in England.I remember when it was on 20/20. |

*Dagon*,It is called rosered *Kethria* corrected me it's just that last night The movie I wathched was called (The Diary of Ann Enchlewood or something like that and they called the house Red Rose throughout the movie.I have never seen Rose Red the one Steven King put out.The movie I watched was telling how this house and his book came to be.Before RoseRed, there was RedRose is how the caption read. |

It was a good movie though. I saw it last year. That documentary at the end leads you to believe that it's real even though it isn't. |

Red Rose was a story made up by stephen king. Dont believe everything you hear. The lady was made up, the house is really a hotel in england. If you read the diary of ellen rimbauer the house is in seattle. or around that area. Its FAKE, trust me. If it was real it would be the hottest spot for spirit hunters in the world.  |

From what I understand, Ellen Rimbaur is a fictional character. Her diary was actually written by Ridley Pearson. In an interview, Stephen King said the story came about after visiting the Seattle mansion (which is a B&B called Thornewood Castle) and hearing the story of the the haunted Winchester Mansion in Cali. Well, it was filmed at Thornewood Castle which is a B&B. It says he visited one in Seattle, but it isn't clear wether it was Thornwood Castle or a different one because it gives two different locations. |

The winchester family did build a house, i am not sure of the name, but due to their fortune being made on the blood of others, they suffered. The lady of the house added on rooms to confuse the spirits that were haunting her. Some doors on the house open up to the outside , with no stairs-- nothing, one guest opened a door and fell when he stepped in the dark to look around. That is the story i read once, like any story, down the line it grows..  |

The Winchester's (from the gun/rifle makers) house is called, The Winchester Mystery house. It's located in San Jose, CA and is a pretty cool house to visit. I've been there a few times and it always amazes me to see doors that lead to nowhere, a roon with no doors or windows (it was all blocked in when build) and stairs that go upstairs to a brick wall. There is a room in the middle of the house that Sarah Winchester used for seances. She was scared of the spirits, but called out to them all the time. The house is open for tours so if you're ever in the neighborhood, stop by for a long look.  |

Cool movie..I thought that it was one of his best yet. It is interesting that it was based on a true story, even if loosely. I had also heard about the Winchester House, I think on the unsolved mysteries TV show or one of those haunted travel sites.  |
