'Just' another day at school..............................LSR

I've been sworn at by kids who refused to work, had another push her hand in my face and tell me not to talk to her (after all, her mother shuts up when she tells her to!).

I've been verbally abused by a parent who believed her daughter's lies and I've been told that I am rubbish for insisting on good behaviour by another parent.

I've had to put 4 children out of my classroom because their behaviour was SO disruptive that I could not continue to teach with them remaining in the room. I've had non-g-rated gestures thrown at me.

I've had to cover a lesson for a teacher who decided to be 'ill' and didn't bother to leave work for their class (thank GOD I knew what I was talking about....not my ususal subject at all!)

I've had to re-write a piece of work for a child who had theirs ripped up by another and would not have been able to enter their final exam without it.

I came home with a headache but still took my youngest son back to the school tonight to support the kids in their efforts to raise money to visit Gambia next year and build a school.

I got in a while back, starving and with a worse headache than before....only to be told to 'get my own food', everyone else had eaten....

Oh, and I had to plan and teach 5 lessons of my own today....

Is it any wonder that sometimes I just want to sit down and cry when I get home?

Date: 5/12/2003 2:07:00 PM  From Authorid: 10915    If you must cry LSR, do so. I do it all the time when I have those trials and tribulations that come at me one by one and my life seems overwhelming. And when I finish, I feel much much better. I am sorry that your day was rough, no doubt long, and headachy. But look on the bright side, you took self-initiative on some matters and you were extremely helpful. Someone else probably wouldn't have bothered. So cry if you must, but also give yourself a rewarding hug for your successes.
Date: 5/12/2003 2:07:00 PM  From Authorid: 15675    ohhhhh LSR I'm sorry. Your a french teacher right? I'm 16 and we have a french teacher who actually is visiting from france for a few years. Poor woman she goes through exactly what you do if not worse! And she cant even yell at them because she can't think of the english words... I dont get why kids act this way its soooo stupid! A lot of them just need to grow up!
Date: 5/12/2003 2:08:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 46527    Aww, thank you Girlie, I won't cry though, mustn't let the little swines get to me too much...
Date: 5/12/2003 2:09:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 46527    Kids act this way because their parents allow it Kaja, it's all too obvious when we have to send letters home about poor behaviour only to be met with abuse....sad really as it is the kids who will suffer in the long run.
Date: 5/12/2003 2:09:00 PM  From Authorid: 10915    LOL! I understand, but don't be ashamed to do so if you must either. Sometimes, a good cry is good for the soul as a good laughter.
Date: 5/12/2003 2:10:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 46527    I spent too many years crying Girlie, I decided not to do that again some time ago...I know what you mean though, it can be good for the soul.
Date: 5/12/2003 2:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 33925    Ugh Poor Sis..You need a HOT bath, a warm fuzzy towel, and a cup of wine!! Tell Ad to pamper you!!
Date: 5/12/2003 2:22:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 46527    Well he did eventually make me some food LL sis....I think I just need my bed... )-:
Date: 5/12/2003 3:23:00 PM  From Authorid: 27121    There there, LSR. Go ahead and cry if you need to. Ugh, this reminds me of some of the students that act the same way towards the teachers at my school.
Date: 5/12/2003 3:27:00 PM  From Authorid: 60685    Phew! I agree with Lady Luck, a hot relaxing bath (with bubbles) will certainly do you some good. Then put some mellow music on when you go to bed, that seems to work for me. Also, take this weekend for yourself, get a massage, go to a museum, anywhere where you feel relaxed, if not for the whole weekend then ask Ad to give you an afternoon off as a belated Mother's Day gift.
Date: 5/12/2003 3:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 44321    I appreciate teachers like yourself, who though treated like garbage by the children you are trying to teach and also by the parents, still drudge on and try to make a difference in their lives ((HUG))
Date: 5/12/2003 3:49:00 PM  From Authorid: 44321    What the real rubbish is.. Some parents not doing their jobs in raising good respectful people, and letting the kids act like houligans.
Date: 5/12/2003 3:58:00 PM  From Authorid: 42464    Wow what grade do you teach? If any of the kids at my school were to do that and they do the teachers kick them out with out a second thought and then write them up with out a second thought. I am so sorry, I would hate to be in your shoes. And hey LSR goahead and cry but be sure to take something for that headache before or after cause yeah you'll feel better.
Date: 5/12/2003 4:32:00 PM  From Authorid: 53284    That's the next generation your talking about. Just think how ill mannered their offspring will be. Hope tomorrow is better. Bob
Date: 5/12/2003 6:24:00 PM  From Authorid: 13283    Being a teacher is a tough and thankless job . You are a very good teacher sis and its good to know you care about your students . You have earned your wings ! If you reach just one kid then you are a success . Hang in there ! Razzy aka
Date: 5/12/2003 6:29:00 PM  From Authorid: 60992    LSR aww..I'm sorry your feeling this way.Must be terriable.I feel the same way with one of my teachers right now. He's rude, disrespectful and is always yelling and kicks you out of class even if you didn't do anything. But it is terriable to see kids being so rude to teachers, it's hard teaching 30 kids at a time. And trying to help other students who need it and all. What grade do you teach LSR?

Date: 5/16/2003 7:51:00 AM  From Authorid: 40530    Tell Ad and Hades that I'm gonna whip their butts when I see them next!! That's HORRIBLE, not making you any food!! Kids are so stupid sometimes, but you sound like a wonderful teacher...and a wonderful mum! Your sons aren't going to turn out like the idiots you have to teach, and take satisfaction that in ten years the kids will be unemployed and wishing they had listened at school, while you and your family will be happy and safe, with money and a good lifestyle
