*Guinevere*

Oh, you who dwell in fate
Oh, you who wail in sorrow
Torn assunder by ways not of your choosing
It is fate to which you accuse
It is fate you abhor

And yet as you moan
And yet grieve of your plight
It has been foreseen
You can do nothing
You can only forget and then remember

Have you considered the consequences of your actions
Have you meted out fair views
Or instead have you weeped with grief
For the pain you have caused and
For the love you nonetheless give and recieve alike

Instead of the light and the hope
Instead of his arms - or the other's
You feel you have nothing and even of this
The winds of change turn the wheel of time
The winds that blow across your barrens

Can you curse the love you cannot help
Can you drown in pain and be as a wild woman
Without knowing the forgiveness he gives
And if you are wise, you will relent
And if you do, you are blessed with bliss, however ill gotten

As the sands of time glaze your eyes, but only in memory
As the glades and meadows grow anew as you fail to age
It will ever be said of this dispute of love
Of fiery passion yet to be touched
Of fiery hearts, in full realization of what may lead to sin

I cannot condemn a true woman
I cannot put it on your soul of what can not be changed
But if it could, oh if only it could
That would be the time
That would harbor a better day dawning

So this will stand in your heart as an unscaleable fortress of your pain
So this will grow in parting and abate in meeting
But joining is, and ever will be, the full free will
Against which there can only be fate
Against which perhaps fate could only injure

Can no stronger man but he bear this dolorous tide
Can no other but the mightiest withstand your waywardness
For he is the tree, and you only the flower
He does love you, as you love two
He does you no misdeed to continue in forgivance as only he can

Oh, torn woman
Oh, torn determined one
You have done more than you know, Guinevere, and are powerless in love
To leave your other love would break him
To leave your one would slice his soul

-- Yes, it is about Guinevere of Camelot.. Very sad, it is.. Thank you for reading.

That is a very sad and beautiful tale of a woman's love for two men. You told it very beautifully. Thank you for sharing it with us. ~Gabrielle~

Date: 6/9/2003 6:04:00 PM  From Authorid: 55300    Guinevere has always confused me...I really don't like her for the things she had done, wiether she did it on purpose or not......I really am not one to think of her as someone I would like to meet. But this is an brillant poem Blaze, I was amazed!
