Most drain cleaners are loaded with lye, hydrochloric, sulfuric acids, and other dangerous chemicals.
For unstopping a drain, first plug up any overflow or multiple drains with a wet cloth.
Then pour about 1/4 cup baking soda down the drain. Follow this by pouring 1/2 cup vinegar down the drain and immediately close it until the fizzing action stops.
Flush with boiling water.
Using this procedure on a regular basis prevents drain problems.
It will kill odor-causing bacteria in the drain and gives a fresh clean smell.
