The Killing of Billy

On April 16th,1983,a young man,named William Patrick Green,was shot and killed by a police officer in a small town.The town was Angleton,Texas and the circumstances were mysterious and apparently unable to be verified. 'Billy ',as he was commonly known was 20 years old and had been married around 2 years to his dream girl,Trisha.But they were having troubles,typical for a young couple who were having money problems.On this night,(according to the police report),Trisha was seen by Billy riding around with another man.Upset,Billy stopped for some beer and drove around for awhile,running into several friends who would only say he seemed quiet.At 1:45AM,Officer Ernie Eddlemon stopped Billy's 1980 Camaro for speeding.At this point, the officer said the man refused to show his license and would not exit his vehicle.The man then ,supposedly pulled a gun and pointed it at the officer.Eddlemon took cover and the man fled in his car.By 1:54AM 2 roadblocks had been set up.Neither located the vehicle.At 2:27AM Officer Gerald Ballard radioed that he had spotted the car.At 2:37 AM Angleton P.D. tried to call Ballard on the radio but received no answer.At 2:38AM an Officer Perkins called for the for the Police Chief and an ambulance. according to Ballard ,Billy got out of his car screaming and'hollering'.He said he then saw the man turn towards him and point a pistol at him. Ballard then shot Billy and killed him.Autopsy reports showed 2 entrance wounds to the back and 1 to the chest. To add to the unusual circumstances,Officer Eddlemon was not on the radio log from 2:03AM till 3:17AM And ,finally ,Billy Green's supposed weapon was a pellet pistol. When Billys's father in law was interviewed,he stated that the police were always harassing Billy for no apparent reason. When Billy's father was interviewed ,he asked what type of gun was found.Lt.Matt Wingo(the interviewer)asked what type of gun Billy had,Mr.Green replied only a pellett pistol.Lt.Wingo then stated then that this was the type of weapon found. Officer Ballard had been involved 1 and 1/2 years(approx) before this incident in one extremely similar.In a small town ,it is rare for an officer to ever fire his weapon.Apparently ,not in Brazoria County,Texas. Officer Ballard was No Billed . As Mrs.Green(Billy's mother)exited the courthouse on the date of the no bill,she was told by an unknown officer 'Your son deserved to die'. Billy was a good man ,hard worker,good friend,good husband,and my heo.He was my brother.If anyone has any information onwhat happened April 16th ,please contact me.So Billy can rest.

My life has never been the same.My nother has become an alcoholic.I spent 10 years as a drunk and a cokehead I am clean and sober and I need the truth.I loved my brother.Whatever he loved,I loved.And he was the last person to ever feel proud of me .Because of him,i believed in myself and thought I could do anything.That was taken from me and I am lost.Help me find some peace.
