We lived in a split level home in Indianapolis. One evening we had just switched off the TV and sat and talked on the couch. We had a black Labrador Retriever; Bridget. Bridget was laying on the floor in front of the fireplace. The house was quiet except for our voices. All at once Bridget sat up and started growling. I talked to her to calm her down. She just stared at a chair in the corner of the room as if someone was sitting in it. Although I saw no one I had a great sense that someone was there. Do you think animals can see objects or entities that the humans cannot see? I reached out to pat her and she kept growling. Ordinarily a very friendly and loving dog I was very surprised to see her reaction to what ever this was. A cold chill ran up my back. For an hour my wife and I talked about this strange happening. 'It was probably just something the dog heard outside' I tried to downplay the event. We agreed and started off to bed. My wife went upstairs and the dog followed. I was about to turn off the lights. I turned to walk up the steps and I detected some movement on the floor behind me. We had shag carpet in those days and out in the center of the room was a dog toy, a rubber ring that we bought to play with the dog. The rubber ring was spinning around and around in the middle of the floor, even on the shag carpet. I stood there for a moment in disbelief. I hastened my retreat up the stairs and tried to sleep.
